Well i really cant tell what all these numbers and names mean so if anyone can enlighten me would be great. In 2 weeks i will be ordering a new computer. One that should be able to run WoW more than 20 fps on low detail staring at the floor. So if anyone can tell me if this computer is good would be good.
Case ( Nzxt Guardian 921 Gaming Tower Case - Black ) Processor ( Intel® Core™ i7 920 Processor (4x 2.66GHz/8MB L3 Cache) ) Motherboard ( GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R -- Intel X58 Chipset CrossFire and SLI Supported w/7.1 Sound, Triple-Channel DDR3, Gb LAN, S-ATA Raid, USB 2.0, PCI-E MB ) Memory ( 6 GB [2 GB X3] DDR3-1333 Triple Memory Module - Corsair Value or Major Brand ) Video Card ( NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 - 512MB - Single Card ) Case Lighting ( None ) Power Supply ( 800 Watt -- Power Supply - SLI Ready ) Processor Cooling ( Certified CPU Fan and Heatsink ) Video Card Brand ( Major Brand Powered by ATI or NVIDIA ) Primary Hard Drive ( 1 TB HARD DRIVE -- 16M Cache, 7200 RPM, 3.0Gb/s - Single Drive ) Data Hard Drive ( None ) 2nd Optical Drive ( None ) Optical Drive ( 22X Dual Format/Double Layer DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive - Black ) External Hard Drives [USB 2.0/eSATA] ( None ) Sound Card ( 3D Premium Surround Sound Onboard ) Speaker System ( iBUYPOWER 2.1 Channel Stereo Super Bass Subwoofer Speaker System ) Network Card ( Onboard LAN Network (Gb or 10/100) ) Floppy Drive ( None ) Monitor ( 22" ASUS Widescreen VH222H TFT LCD Monitor 16:9 Full HD 1080P /w Built in Speakers ) Keyboard ( Razer Lycosa Gaming Keyboard ) Mouse ( Razer Lachesis 4000dpi 3G Laser Gaming Mouse - Black ) Mouse ( Razer eXactMat & eXactRest Bundle - Mouse Pad and Wrist Rest ) Operating System ( Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit Edition + [Free 60-Day !!!] Microsoft Office 2007(Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access ....) - 64-Bit ) Warranty ( Standard Warranty Service - Standard 3-Year Limited Warranty + Lifetime Technical Support ) Rush Service ( Rush Service Fee (not shipping fee) - No Rush Service, Estimate Ship Out in 5~10 Business Days ) Video Camera ( None ) Power Protection ( None ) Headset ( None ) Printer ( None ) Meter Display ( None ) Flash Media Reader/Writer ( 12-In-1 Internal Flash Media Card Reader/Writer - Black ) Extras ( Sunbeamtech Lan Party Bag ) MP3/MP4 Player ( None ) USB Flash Drive ( None ) 2nd Monitor ( None )
This will run me just over $1500.00 and i want to make sure its a computer i wont have to replace in a year. I also looked at this computer and this next one which has a better video card apperantly and is barely more expensive but i don't know if its better.

youll run WoW at 60 fps or more, depends on where you buy it...some companies like to underclock video cards and such....if its custom made ive seen comps with similar builds run WoW at a solid 120-140 fps. Good Luck!

Well im buying the site from ibuypower.com did some research into it and it seems to be a pretty trustworthy site they build the computer you choose. 100+ fps would be insane for me. Thanks for the input.

I would say spring for the better video card (seems to be the major difference between the two systems) and be sure to get that Windows 7 upgrade! On my new computer I have had some bluescreens, only while playing WoW and presumably related to Vista.

Processor:If your looking to cut a few dollers, look at the new i5 processor series. The architecture is such that they will be cheaper than the i7 with comparable speeds. Di spite being 5 vs 7, the i5 came out 2nd, and is actually more like a 2nd generation i7. Processor Clock Speed Cores / Threads Maximum Single Core Turbo Frequency TDP Price Intel Core i7-975 Extreme 3.33GHz 4 / 8 3.60GHz 130W $999 Intel Core i7 965 Extreme 3.20GHz 4 / 8 3.46GHz 130W $999 Intel Core i7 940 2.93GHz 4 / 8 3.20GHz 130W $562 Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz 4 / 8 2.93GHz 130W $284Intel Core i7 870 2.93GHz 4 / 8 3.60GHz 95W $562 Intel Core i7 860 2.80GHz 4 / 8 3.46GHz 95W $284 Intel Core i5 750 2.66GHz 4 / 4 3.20GHz 95W $196http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/sh ... spx?i=3634Video:studies have shown that "more memory" doesn't really matter for video cards (at least not yet). A faster 512 card is good enough. don't go with a slower card under the illusion that 1g ram! is needed. Tom's Hardware benchmarks video cards: http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/grap ... rds,1.htmlhttp://www.tomshardware.com/charts/gami ... ,1349.htmlGet the best card you can afford - within reason Computer Memory. Windows 7/XP/Vista is still limited to 3.5 or so GB of ram. So buying any more than 4 is pointless. The rest? All fluff. Unless you want to talk about SSD drives...

Thanks guys, and diel with the computers i am ordering from this site (they build computer for you since i dont trust myself to build my own) the i7 920 processor is the cheapest one it comes with. Also it goes from 3 GB of Ram to 6GB of ram and its only 32$ so not that much of a problem. Now video cards, would a better video card mean i need more cooling? I dont exactly have a high tech cooling system in the computer i was going to order. Should a spring an extra 58$ for a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 – 896MB over the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 – 896MB? Would it be a noticeable change. I don't think id like to go much over $1600 and more i think about it more expensive it gets

Hey Diel, just built a comp for my buddy with 8GB of ram and a i7 950 and fyi windows 7 definitely recognizes the 8GB. RAID1 on the HDs and SATA blu ray drives just for shits and giggles, i wish i had that kind of money to blow on a comp lol. Ran him $2400 at the end, but money was no object.

Windows 7 32 bit DISPLAYS the max ram. It will still only use 3.5ish. (it varies based on a number of factors from 3.2 to 3.7)
If your running 64 bit, it's another matter of course. one of the advantages of a 64 bit machine. 64 bit windows will indead, see/use all 8.

looks like a great system. even with no overclock you should see 120+fps in dalran maxxed.
if money isnt an issue, instead of going with a RAID0 satax2 setup you might consider an intel SSD. 170Mb/sec read is srs bsns. windows boots up in about 6 seconds, wow loads instantly, zoning into dalran takes about 1 second.

I think the jump from lagging like hell to 120 fps will be good for me :O Unfortunately money is a bit of an issue and i've pretty much hit my limit with the system i mentioned above, but hearing how fast people are telling me it will be able to run i'm sure it will work great for me.

Quote: 120+fps Well, anything over 30 is really unpercievable by the human eye - and most monitors stop at 60 Quote: intel SSD Yep. And the intel's warrenty for 3 years. and as for any worries about them failing - consider that you can write 100mb of new data every day for 5 years. I love mine - my load times greatly improved.
